Port-A-Cath Access

A port-a-cath is a device which has connective tubing leading to an artery in the heart, that is surgically implanted into a patients chest for easy access for blood draws and chemotherapy treatments.   Medical ‘lingo’ — “We need to access your port.”  This is what Thomas and about 40,000 kids across America do everyday during a routine clinic or hospital visit when they receive chemo, IV fluids, medicines, or need blood drawn.
